In response to physical knocks or emotional stress the body's tissues contract. Any stresses, strains, tensions or traumas which have been stored in the body may give rise to either a physical or emotional symptom. When continued levels of stress have been experienced a nervous system may get held into the fight and flight response (eg being easily agitated) or move to the other extreme of freezing and becoming disassociated (eg being unresponsive).

craniosacral therapy session

Restriction in the body's functioning show up in the way craniosacral motion is expressed. Craniosacral therapists are trained to feel this subtle motion in the body, and can use it to identify areas of inertia called fulcrums.

The body moves into a better mode of functioning by bringing resolution to these patterns of inertia and taking time to rest and rebuild its resources (strength to heal). By freeing up the energy the body was using to hold a fulcrum one of the benefits of treatment is that it gives you an increase in available energy. You may also experience feeling a bit brighter and less burdened over the next few days after treatment.
